Protecting our drinking water sources, and our wastewater system integrity, is paramount to our mission. Unwanted pharmaceuticals are thrown away and flushed away and are beginning to show up in trace amounts in our water supplies. Drug Take-Back Events allow you the opportunity to offer your community to bring their unwanted pharmaceuticals to a drop-off point and dispose of them properly.
On April 28, 2012, MRWA, in partnership with Missouri-American Water Company with their generous grant of $4,680, sponsored twenty-one Drug Take-Back Events that collected nearly ONE TON of unwanted prescription drugs!
The National Drug-Take Back event occurs on the last Saturday of April and October. The next event is scheduled for October 27, 2012.
Contact Brad Rayburn at firstname.lastname@example.org or 573-300-8664 if you have questions or would like to participate.

Missouri Public Entity Pak (MPEP)
Public entities, such as water and wastewater systems must carry liability insurance. The Public Entity Pak (MPEP) is a program designed to provide you with high quality coverage and service at a competitive price. In addition, the program pays you back with benefits provided to your water or wastewater system with revenues generated from MRWA’s portion of the proceeds of the program. To date, MRWA has purchased or maintains:
These units are provided for use to MRWA members at a no cost on a first-come, first-served basis during emergency situations. Members are asked to monitor and maintain units during use and refuel when returning to MRWA. As stated, these costs are paid for with proceeds form the MPEP program; the ONLY insurance program that gives back to MRWA member systems.
If you have questions about this program, contact John Hoagland at firstname.lastname@example.org
MRWA Text Alerts
We provide this free service to you with two intentions: First, we use it to remind you when your area has bad weather coming. For example, should your area be issued a Winter Storm Warning, we'll remind you to check your generator, fuel levels, make sure your tower is full, etc. Second, we'll let you know when a class is nearby so you don't miss a single opportunity for training.
We'll send you a text when it's important; we will not pester you with a lot of junk.
Even though this is a free service, you must be sure if your calling plan allows you to receive text messages. These are incoming messages only; you can NOT respond to MRWA Text Alerts. Even though you may have to pay a few cents for an incoming text, these reminders are priceless!

Every year, MRWA holds a video contest for schools throughout Missouri. Each contest is given a theme that students are encouraged to create a one-minute video about. The winning school recieves $500 plus another $500 to be divided equally among the participating students. Additionally, a pizza party for the students will be provided.
This contest requires sponsorship by one, or more, of MRWA member systems. The contest gives the system an opportunity to promote public relations in their commmunity while at the same time gives today's students an opportunity to learn more about the water industry.
The new theme and entry materials come out in the Fall of each year. The videos are judged by the attendees of the Annual Technical Conference as they vote for their favorite video.
To obtain the entry materials, click HERE.
Winner 2013 is Holden R-3 Middle School!
The theme was "Where Does My Drinking Water Come From".
